What Goes Around Goes Around

Dear Voodoolawyer:
I woke up this morning feeling atavistic (turns out my daddy and his daddy frequently felt the same way.) Anyway, I wired up my great grandfather's crystal radio set to my grandfather's vacuum tube amplifier, ran the signal through dad's Super-8 movie camera, and fed the signal into my old Kaypro II 64 bit CPM machine; I pointed the gizmo at Venus, and this is the video I got back...
Who is this person, is she the queen of Venus, or my great grandpappy in drag? Where is she? You are the only one I can trust, Voodoolawyer, let me know. Signed, Curious.
Dear Curious:
That's Raquel Welch (no, not Jane Fonda) and she's in front of monumental sculpture built for the 1968 Olympics in Mexico City. See here.Your grandpa would be proud of you, Yours, Voodoolawyer.
Explanation is An excerpt from Raquel! Deluxe Addition.

All the lonely people in the swamp made Levi sing this over and over... You wanna get lonelier? Me too, let's do it again, there's no video here, but you get twice the loneliness with this clip...this is four and one half minutes
Another black and white tv clip of "Just Ask the Lonely" is here, the singing is live, but the choir is missing...a nice remix is here

Three Illogical Conclusions
Dear VoodooLawyer:
Each time I watch this video, I expect these hypersexualized dancers to make love in the car, and then I'm always disappointed when they don't. I keep watching it though, sure they will do so the next time. My doctor says the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. Am I crazY?
Signed, Your Friend.
Dear Friend:
No, the dancers are crazy for not making out when they enter those sexy beasts...you keep watching, I'm sure they will come to their senses and get it on in the cars, if not the next time you watch, then surely the time after that. Don't give up now!
Yours, VoodooLawyer.

Who Can We Turn To Now?

Watch John Lee Hooker tell the story of the people of Tupelo, when it rained both night and day...
These folks say the song is about a tornado...
"Hooker ... had also just done his first version of “Tupelo Blues” (about the 1936 Tupelo tornado – although he depicts the event as a flood) on Riverside (U.S.) LP 12-838, "
